If you are reading this, I hope you realize how blessed you truly are. God allowed you to walk this earth another day. This grace, this mercy is something we cannot earn. We do not even deserve it. God loves us despite who we are and what we have done. He even loves us enough to send his son Jesus to die for our sins. We will fall. We will stumble. There will be times when we will fail. But we will rise again because Jesus will carry us.
Marvelous Light
Jesus is the only way to God, John 14:6. We repent for our sins and boldly declare that Jesus is our savior. This marks the beginning of a journey to change how we live. We strive to live a righteous life. Not a perfect life but a Christ like existence. The Ten Commandments serve as a set of values that we adhere to while on this earth. After all, we cannot simply call ourselves Christians without following a set of principles.
We experience God’s love every breath that we take. Every time we make it home safe from work. Each time we are able to pay our bills. That moment when we roll out of bed. The feel of each hug that we share with the people we love.
There are times when life will move in unexpected directions. Times when our fortitude will be tested. We need to remember to stand on faith no matter how the situation looks. God’s direction, his light, will bring us through.
He Won’t Let Us Fall
There is power in the name of Jesus, Luke 10:17. On our walk, we face challenges and obstacles that could most certainly destroy us. However we serve a God that can move mountains. This does not mean that we will not experience trials and tribulations. It means that we will come out of the storm victorious.
The thing for us to always remember is that we need to stand in order to not fall. To put it simply, we need to stand with Jesus so that we do not fall into the traps of the enemy. We cannot have our cake and eat it too. Do you think you can run the street, taking lives on Saturday and walk into church on Sunday like you will not face consequences? You will end up in jail. However, you can come of this storm with a real relationship with Jesus and truly change.
Think relationship
God has given us free will so there can be undesired outcomes to some of our bad decisions. Jesus is not a “get out of jail free card”. God is not a genie in a bottle. God is not waiting for you to call him up to ask for things. He is looking for a relationship. A cross on your neck does not signify a relationship. Religious ceremonies do not bring you closer to God.
Fasting, reading the bible and prayer brings you closer. There are some that call on his name only to get out of a jam and I can imagine God thinking, “Who are you?” The beauty of the relationship is understanding that he has your back but more importantly that he can count on you.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you, John 14:15-18
Jesus Will Carry Us
We are weak, at least from a flesh perspective, Matthew 26:41. In order for us to grow we need to feed our spirit. Many of us focus on getting our physical man in shape. We run, we eat healthy and spend hours in the gym, but none of these actions prepare you for the unseen fight. Do you ever wonder why people cannot seem to overcome drugs, porn and sex? They use solutions that are not able to fix the problem.
The battle to fight addictions have to transpire in the spirit. This means you cannot do it on your own. This also means that you have to utilize tools like prayer and accountability partners. The point is that, you do not have to fight alone.
When you feel like life is overwhelming, stop to pray. When it feels like you have tried everything, try God. Know that your situation, regardless of how severe is not bigger than God. The power of the name of Jesus will change our outcome. He will carry us.
